Racism and Indians
Well, all of us most probably by now are aware with the attacks on indian students in Australia.Undoubtedly these attacks warrant a contempt but i would like to express my views on a more serious issue instead.I recently saw a Tv animation series :Avatar: the last air-bender.I remember one of the dialogues from it which goes something like it" To bend the souls of others ,your own soul must be unbendable". Just for a very ugly fact of our society, i feel that many among us are racists. Isn't it a common habit that people having dark complexion are addressed like 'KAALU' or something like that no matter we remember it not do in front of them? For me even thinking so amounts to racism. We also have a fairly regular habit of making fun of people who hail from other regions( like many of us use to make fun of south indians).Or don't many of us still call all the foreigners as GORAS. See i strongly feel that the culprits in the case of Australian incidents should be punished under law.But what is more necessary is the fact that we should also try to adapt to the local life and culture of society we live in.Coming back to our own society, can we answer the fact that why at the time of marriage a fair complexion is of paramount importance? Perhaps to preserve the false sense of being superiority which is 110% racism. In fact in recent years there have been attacks on foreigners in our country but none of them were branded racists but all such attacks on our people anywhere in the world were racist!!!!!!!!!!! Actually when our own home is so divided what else can we expect? We have to first worry about getting things right here back in our own motherland.Only then can we fulfil the dreams that the architects of modern India had envisioned for it.
